1 Year Later, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt Is Shutting Down, Servers To Remain Online

Barely one year after the game’s launch on PC and PlayStation, Sharkmob Interactive has revealed that battle royale Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt has ceased active development, though the game will remain playable for the foreseeable future.

Sharkmob made the announcement via a blog post on the game’s official website, which stated that the game failed to “reach the critical mass needed to sustain development.” However, the team has also stated the game will remain playable “for as long as we have an active player base and community.”

The blog also reveals that the ability to purchase premium tokens will be shut off in late September, but they will become easier to earn so new cosmetics can continue to be unlocked. The team is also planning to make a few additions to Bloodhunt in its final update–including an in-game voting system for unlocking new features–which are intended to “ensure that the game continues to be interesting.”

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt is the latest live-service game to cease operations soon after launch, as it joins a list including Apex Legends Mobile, Knockout City, Rumbleverse, and Babylon’s Fall. It is one of the few games that will remain operational after active development has ceased, with Marvel’s Avengers from Square Enix being a notable example.

For the curious, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt is available to download now for PC and PlayStation 5.
