Reliance Jio launched 5G services in Tamil Nadu’s six key cities, namely, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Salem, Hosur and Vellore. With this launch, Jio True 5G services are now available in 101 cities in India and the company achieved this feat in 100 days. Its nearest telecom competitor, Airtel, has launched 5G services in 30 cities across the country. Both the telcos have launched their 5G services in 18 states each.

It is to be noted that Jio has not launched the 5G services in a state-wise manner. As per Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, Jio 5G services will be rolled out pan-India in 2023 erasing rural-urban divide.
