HIGHLIGHTS

  • Pakistan (109/2) beat Bangladesh (108/7) by 8 wickets in the 2nd T20I
  • Fakhar Zaman remained not out on 57 while Mohammad Rizwan scored 39 for PAK
  • Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shadab Khan took a couple of wickets each for the winning team

Pakistan produced yet another clinical performance in Dhaka on Saturday to beat Bangladesh by 8 wickets in the second T20 international and clinch an unbeatable 2-0 series lead in the process.

The hosts were restricted to a below-par 108 for 7 in 20 overs with Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shadab Khan grabbing a couple of wickets each for the visitors.

Najmul Hossain Shanto and Afif Hossain were the only two batsmen who made any sort of a contribution with the bat, scoring 40 and 20 runs respectively.

Pakistan in reply, gunned down the target in 18.1 overs with Fakhar Zaman remaining not out on 57 off 51 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes. Mohammad Rizwan also contributed with 39 while Babar Azam (1) suffered a rare failure.

“Team effort, happy with the way the boys carried forward the momentum. We bowled well in the middle overs, finished it off well,” Babar Azam said.

“We started well, Afif and Shanto batted well. Me and Shanto were trying to get a partnership but didn’t capitalise in the last few overs.

“I think a team like us need a set batter till the 15th over, we didn’t do that. Boys are putting in a lot of effort at training, taking catches, doing all the things right but are missing chances.

“I think last five-six months, our bowling unit has been outstanding, both pace and spin department. It’s the batting unit that have to deliver,” said Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah.

The two teams will lock horns in the inconsequential final T20I in Dhaka on November 22.
