Mahindra XUV900 teased ahead of debut

The Mahindra XUV900 electric SUV will soon become the Indian manufacturer’s halo product. The Mahindra XUV9000 will be built to be an electric SUV from the scratch. The car is likely to play a pivotal role in the auto giant’s ‘Born Electric’ campaign. The XUV900 could kick start the campaign on August 15th this year as the teasers have started flowing in.

The XUV900 which could adopt a coupe-like design will lead the product portfolio at Mahindra Auto. The XUV900’s design team is being led by Pratap Bose, Chief Designing Officer at Mahindra Advanced Design Europe. The XUV900 which is still in the early stages of a concept might be showcased soon. Mahindra is also closely working with its Formula-E team to incorporate its findings and learnings into this project as well as others that would follow.

The teaser video that surfaced, demoed the rugged yet futuristic styling on the outside of the vehicle. The vehicle adopts chunky fender flares and squared wheel arches to amplify its SUV credentials. The wheels will get aero treatment to make it more aerodynamic and Mahindra aims to incorporate ‘racing spirit’ into the vehicle. The tapering roofline will be ribbed for structural rigidity and ends in a two-scoop rear spoiler. The vehicle is also spotted with numerous other design elements such as a boxed mesh design with angular cross members that could be used for the grille, a digital ORVM housing, an integrated diffuser at the back and more. On the inside, the Mahindra XUV900 will get a cockpit that will be loaded with tech and will host a large information centre that will be touch-enabled. The new logo sits on the squared-out steering wheel too.

The vehicle is still a long way from production and it will take a good amount of time to see a product on the road. The official unveiling of the vehicle is likely to take place on August 15th and a more detailed overview of the concept can be expected.
