50% of pet owners in India believe that bacteria reside on their pets: Dyson Global Dust Study – Times of India
India’s pet care market is growing rapidly and it was revealed that 21% of Indians are unaware that pet allergens that trigger pet-related allergies could be found in household dust. Dyson Microbiologists shed light on the correlation between being a pet owner and household dust and found that over 50% of pet owners in India believe that bacteria reside on their pets at home.
As per the latest Dyson Global Dust Study 2022 16% of pet owners were unaware that components such as pet dander (e.g., hair, skin flakes) make up dust.
“Many people think that pet hair is the biggest problem as it is the most visible. It is unsurprising that people are unaware of the other particles that may reside on their pets because these particles tend to be microscopic in size”, mentions Dyson.
The report further adds that 3 in 4 pet owners are unaware that pollen can reside on their pets and 7 in 10 owners are unaware that viruses and house dust mite feces can reside on their pets.
The Dyson Global Dust Study 2022 says that 38% of pet owners groom their pets at home every day, and 75% of them groom them with a brush or comb, which leaves the pet dander behind causing several health issues. With this thought in mind, Dyson recently introduced its all new “Pet Groom Tool” for mess-free grooming in the country.
The tool enables pet parents to brush loose hair off their pets and directly into the Dyson cord-free vacuum cleaners.

Priced at Rs 9,900, the pet grooming kit from Dyson includes a pet groom tool, extension hose and quick-release adapter. The company revealed that the pet grooming brush has 364 slicker bristles that are angled at a 35-degree flex to an upright position as you brush. It can be used without the vacuum being switched on, and post-grooming it can be switched on to suck up the hair.
The tool is compatible with only Dyson’s latest range of vacuum cleaners, including the V8, V11, V12 Detect Slim and V15 Detect cord-free vacuum cleaners.
