Arsenal go back in for Kieran Trippier but Thomas Partey could prevent transfer

Arsenal have reportedly reignited their interest in England right-back Kieran Trippier. Arsenal have been in the market for a right-back throughout the summer and now have just a week before the window shuts. Trippier is keen on a return to the Premier League after spending two seasons at Atletico Madrid.

Arsenal have already used two different right-backs this season.

Calum Chambers started the opening day loss to Brentford and Cedric Soares came into the starting XI for the 2-0 home defeat to Chelsea.

But neither have covered themselves in glory.

Hector Bellerin wants to leave the Gunners and Ainsley Maitland-Niles no longer wants to play in that position.

That has led to Mikel Arteta exploring right-backs he could sign and Trippier appears to be top of his list.

“They are playing with a lot of courage in this situation, which is tough.

“They are trying their best – and at the moment it’s not enough to win football matches.”
