Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez sets date for Kylian Mbappe transfer resolution

Real Madrid hope to have Kylian Mbappe signed to a pre-contract agreement on January 1 as the Frenchman’s incredible transfer saga continues, president Florentino Perez has confirmed. Mbappe is out of contract at Paris Saint-Germain in the summer and can agree a summer move when the January transfer window opens.

“We hope by January 1 that everything will be solved,” Perez told Spanish outlet El Debate.

Mbappe was unhappy about not being allowed to leave PSG during the summer transfer window. He insists he told the club he wanted to depart at the end of July, giving the French side a month to find a replacement.

“I wanted the club to have a fee for a quality replacement,” Mbappe said on Monday.

“My position was clear, I said that I wanted to leave.

“I did not appreciate the fact that they said I came [with the news he wanted to leave] in the last week of August. I said at the end of July that I wanted to go.

“I said it early enough so that the club could react. I wanted everyone to come out of this stronger, that we leave hand in hand.”
