Huawei teases P50 series phones with Leica cameras, launch date not set – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Smartphone maker Huawei finally unveiled its all-new HarmonyOS and various products at the virtual launch event. Along with the new products, the company also shared a teaser of its upcoming flagship smartphone Huawei P50 Pro.
The teaser shared by the company shows two camera cutouts with a triple rear camera setup. The first and single camera is the second cutout which is expected to come with a variable aperture liquid lens. This type of lens was introduced by Xiaomi for the first time with the Mi Mix Fold smartphone which the company unveiled in March this year. The rear camera also houses two flash modules.
As per earlier leaks and rumours, the Huawei P50 Pro is said to come with a 6.6-inch OLED curved display with a single punch-hole placed in the centre. It is also expected that this time the company will ditch the magnetic earpiece speaker for a standard earpiece. It is also expected that the flagship smartphone from Huawei will be powered by the most powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor.
Apart from teasing the Huawei P50 Pro, the company has also confirmed that the launch of the P50 series will be delayed as compared to the Spring launch for the P series. The CEO has also said that the company has not yet finalised any date for the launch of Huawei P50 series.
Meanwhile, Huawei has confirmed that it will start rolling out HarmonyOS on selected smartphone models, offering users the chance to switch from the current operating system based on Google’s Android platform.
The use of HarmonyOS means the company will no longer be wholly reliant on Android. U.S. sanctions banned Alphabet Inc’s Google from providing technical support to new Huawei phone models and access to Google Mobile Services, the bundle of developer services upon which most Android apps are based.
