windows: You can now turn your Windows 11 taskbar into a macOS-like dock – Times of India
A few months ago, Microsoft started to roll out the Windows 11 operating system for users. The new OS comes with a refreshed look and more apps. One of the most noticeable changes in Windows 11 is the taskbar, which now has icons positioned in the centre as seen on the dock in the mac-OS. Now, a third-party tool actually allows users to get macOS-like dock on Windows 11 by squeezing the taskbar.
TaskbarXI app adds additional customisation options to the taskbar and it is still in the early stage of development. As per a report on XDADevelopers, the app is created as a successor to the TaskbarX app for Windows 10. As per the report, users can shrink down the taskbar on Windows 11 into a compact dock by using the app. The dock also stretches back to full size when any window is maximised.
The report further mentions that the tool supports multiple monitors and it can split the taskbar into left and right pane. As of now, the app cannot change the background style and colour of the taskbar and you also cannot reposition the taskbar at the top of your screen.
Microsoft is also reportedly planning to add support for third-party widgets in Windows 11 version 22H2. Support for third-party widgets was first introduced by the company with the launch of Windows Vista in 2007 and later the support was also added to the Windows 7. The report by WindowsLatest further mentions that the support for third-party widgets will also allow users to customise the widget panel as per their liking. Currently, the OS does not support third-party widgets and it also does not allow users to pin widgets on the desktop.
