Liverpool’s £8m Fabio Carvalho transfer collapses as Reds run out of time on deadline day
Liverpool’s deadline day swoop for Fulham teenager Fabio Carvalho has collapsed at the eleventh hour. All parties were reportedly in agreement over fees and personal terms, but time ultimately ran out when it came to the medical and other final formalities, leading to its unfortunate collapse.
The Reds were seemingly on the verge of completing their second signing of the January transfer window on Monday evening.
But after lengthy negotiations with Fulham, time was always going to be a concern, and it eventually proved too tight of a turnaround to see the deal completed this January.
Liverpool and Fulham had reportedly settled on an £8million deal, which would have seen the teenager return to Craven Cottage on loan for the rest of the campaign.
While Carvalho’s immediate future remains the same, he is now left with no assurance of a future move to Anfield, although naturally, the possibility remains that Jurgen Klopp could revisit his interest during the summer.
