Popular Industry Analyst Reports Upcoming Need for Speed Game Will Only Be Available on the Next Gen Consoles

It seems like we don’t have to wait long for the next Need for Speed from Electronic Arts, according to VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb.

While talking on the Giantbomb show Grubbsnax, Grubb revealed that EA might be looking for a holiday release in November for the next title of the legendary racing series. Moreover, he has even stated that the racing title will only be available for next-generation consoles, which means that the game won’t release for consoles like the PS4 and the Xbox One.

For the most part, the Need For Speed series has had a bi-annual release schedule, with the last title being Need for Speed Heat, which was set in Palm City, a fictionalized version of Miami. However that game released in 2019, and since then, fans have only received the remastered version of 2010’s Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, which released in 2020.

The franchise was set to receive another title last year, with Criterion Games taking over the developmental duties from Ghost Games, which had previously created titles like Heat and Payback. However, the game was delayed, as Criterion Games was sent to support DICE in the development of Battlefield 2042.

As of right now, not much is known about the title, except for Grubb’s report on the game releasing for next generation consoles. The game might also be set in Miami, just like Heat. However, Grubb isn’t sure about that. Additionally, there has been no chatter about a PC version for the title. However, it’s very unlikely that EA will stop PC support for its legendary racing title.

In the end, with the game rumored to be releasing later this year, it’s very likely that official news about the title will arrive soon, and fans can’t wait to see what the developers have in store for them.
