The next iPhone SE may be the ‘cheapest’ 5G iPhone, here’s when it may launch – Times of India

The iPhone SE is an important product in Apple’s portfolio due to being affordable yet quite powerful. Apple launched the second iPhone SE in 2020 and if rumours are to be believed then the third model remains on track. Noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed that the next iPhone SE could arrive in first half of 2022.
Kuo has also said that the 2022 iPhone SE could retain the same design as the current model. However, it is expected to boast of a new processor and will have 5G support as well. “The new 1H22 SE will have the similar form factor design as the existing SE, with the major differences being 5G support and processor upgrades,” says Kuo in a research note to investors.
If Kuo’s claims are correct, then the iPhone SE could carry forward a design that will have a home button, bezels and no-notch. The display will have an LCD panel, unlike the other ‘premium’ iPhones that boast of an OLED panel.
Another analyst — Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants — had earlier made the same claims about iPhone SE getting 5G support in 2022. However, Young had further claimed that the iPhone SE could see a design change in 2023. The 2023 iPhone model — if and when it arrives — will have a punch-hole design.
It is that time of the year now when rumours about iPhones — this year and next year’s — will keep flying in thick and fast. If the rumour mills are to be believed then Apple is on track to launch its next iPhones in September this year. Last year, the supply chain was affected due to the coronavirus pandemic, and Apple had delayed the launch of iPhones by a month.
