Hangar 13 Confirms The Development of a New Mafia Title

We had recently learned that a new Mafia game might be in the plans as Nick Baynes entered the scene as the new head for Hangar 13 Brighton. He was pivotal in the development of Mafia Definitive Edition and the Mafia Trilogy. The in development title had a codename called, ‘Nero’, and it was the story of the game was speculated to take place before the timeline of the trilogy. Learn more about it here.

In the end this was a leak, so many fans weren’t sure about the arrival of the game. Fortunately, good news has just arrived for them as Hangar 13 has officially confirmed that a new instalment to the series is in development, though it may take years before we even see a preview of it. Through their Mafia 20th Anniversary Developer Interview, we were able to receive confirmation about the team working on an all-new Mafia project.

Thanks to the interview we were able to go through some great developer insights to many important aspects of them working on the trilogy. Towards the end, the interviewer asked the all important question, which many fans have been aching for, “can you tell us anything about what’s next for the franchise?” to which General Manager, Roman Hladík replied the following:

I’m happy to confirm we’ve started work on an all-new Mafia project! While it’s a few years away and we can’t share anything more right now, we’re really excited to keep working on this beloved franchise and to entertain our players with new stories.

Fans will be overly ecstatic about this new revelation, though it stated that its a few years away and doesn’t confirm the earlier rumours about the next instalment to be a prequel to the trilogy either. However, players should just stay tuned as the game has already been confirmed and it is just a matter of time before we get a sneak peak to what’s next for the Mafia franchise.
