Earlier this week, Netflix showcased its upcoming release slate with announcements and reveals of future projects during TUDUM 2022.
Even though TUDUM ended a while back, the reveal train hasn’t stopped for Netflix, as the popular streaming platform unveiled the entire cast for the upcoming live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
The main cast for the series which includes actors like Gordon Cormier (Aang), Kiawentiio (Katara), Ian Ousley (Sokka), Dallas Liu (Zuko), Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (Iroh), and Daniel Dae Kim (Fire Lord Ozai) were announced around a year ago. Last night, fans of the iconic Nickelodeon animated series found out about the actors who will round up the rest of the Fire, Water, and Earth tribes.
The new casting for the Water tribe is headed by Prey’s breakout star Amber Midthunder, who plays Princess Yue. Furthermore, Northern Water Tribe master Pakku is being played by Ambulance actor A Martinez. Other characters like Yagoda, Hahn, Chief Arnook and Avatar Kuruk are being portrayed by Irene Bedard, Joel Oulette, Nathaniel Arcand, and Meegwun Fairbrother, respectively.
The Earth Kingdom has a new June in she/her star Arden Cho, with Utkarsh Ambudkar playing King Bumi. Community actor Danny Pudi is also joining Avatar: The Last Airbender series as the Mechanist. While Lucian-River Chauhan plays the Mechanist’s son Teo, James Sie portrays Cabbage Merchant.
Moving on to the Fire Nation, we see the likes of Momona Tamada, Thalia Tran, Ruy Iskandar play the roles of Ty Lee, Mai, and Lt. Jee, respectively. Along with that, Hiro Kanagawa and C.S. Lee are also part of the cast as Fire Lord Sozin and Avatar Roku. Moreover, The Great Sage and Lt. Dang are being played by François Chau and Ryan Mah, respectively.
Finally, legendary Star Trek actor George Takei is also joining the cast of the Netflix series as the voice of Koh, with Randall Duk Kim of Kung Fu Panda-fame voicing Wan Shi Tong.
