Five Tottenham could target if Son Heung-min quits for Real Madrid

Tottenham fans were rocked by recent reports which suggested that Son Heung-min was weighing up his future at the club. Real Madrid are known to be keeping tabs on the player with manager Carlo Ancelotti a huge fan of the player he faced while he was manager at Everton and the Spanish giants could be set to make a move for the winger in the coming months.

Here Express Sport looks at the options available to Antonio Conte should the South Korean decide to move on as he looks to a future without one of his best players.

Memphis Depay

Tottenham were heavily linked with a move for the former Manchester United man over the summer and could reignite their interest should Son decide to leave. The Dutchman is capable of playing both out wide and up front meaning he would come in as a like for like replacement.

Depay’s contract at Barcelona expires at the end of the season and could therefore be available on a free transfer next summer. It would appear he is the most likely option for Spurs at the current time if the South Korean makes the move to Spain.

Marco Asensio

A player who is in a similar position to Depay is Marco Asensio who’s deal at Real Madrid also runs out next year. The 26-year-old has fallen out of favour in the Spanish capital and would be a good option to swap places with Son as he looks to re-establish his career.

The winger has proven in the past that he is capable of performing at a high-level and Spurs supporters would hope he can recreate that form should he make the move to north London and would be under huge pressure to live up to the performances of the club’s current star.

Arnaut Danjuma

Maintaining focus on La Liga, Danjuma is another option who could come in as a like for like replacement for Son. Another who is comfortable both through the middle and out wide, he has been previously linked with a switch to Premier League sides like Liverpool and West Ham. With a keen eye for goal the Dutchman would help to replicate the goal threat originally offered by the player he would be replacing.

Allan Saint-Maximin

Looking closer to home, Saint-Maximin could pose the best option available to Spurs currently residing in England. The Newcastle star is a box of tricks and would certainly help make the Lilywhites easier on the eye, something which has been a major criticism of Conte’s side.

With the rise to prominence of Miguel Almiron, the Magpies may be more open to allowing the Frenchman to leave St James’ Park. However, while is an exciting attacking presence he does not offer the same goal threat as Son and may not help ease offensive concerns.

Rafael Leao

The AC Milan star is another who is capable of playing both out wide and through the middle similar to the South Korean and could therefore fulfil a similar role at Spurs. The Portugal star has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea so pursuing a move for him would also provide the additional benefit of giving Spurs fans bragging rights over their London rivals.
