‘My surgery was a success, ready for the challenges ahead’, tweets Rishabh Pant | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who suffered a horrific car accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway on December 30, has released a statement about his well being and extended his gratitude to all who supported him during these testing times.
“I am humbled and grateful for all the support and good wishes. I am glad to let you know that my surgery was a success. The road to recovery has begun and I am ready for the challenges ahead. Thank you to the @BCCI, @JayShah & government authorities for their incredible support,” Pant wrote on Twitter.

“From the bottom of my heart, I also would like to thank all my fans, teammates, doctors and the physios for your kind words and encouragement. Looking forward to see you all on the field,” he added.
Earlier, On December 30 Pant, 25, suffered multiple injuries when his car collided with a road divider and caught fire on the Delhi-Dehradun highway.
Pant was initially taken to Saksham Hospital Multispecialty and Trauma Centre, before being admitted to Max Hospital, Dehradun. He was on his way to his hometown Roorkee from New Delhi and was alone while driving his Mercedes car.
On January 4, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced that Pant would be shifted from Dehradun to Mumbai via an air ambulance for surgery and further treatment, where he is now under direct supervision of Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, the head of the Centre for Sports Medicine, and Director of Arthroscopy & Shoulder Service, at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai.
Pant’s comeback in the competitive cricket in the near future looks uncertain as former BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly made it clear that he will miss the upcoming IPL 2023.
“Rishabh Pant will not be available for the IPL,” Ganguly, who is due to join Delhi Capitals as director of cricket, was quoted as saying by broadcaster Sports Today.
“It will be a great IPL (for the team), we will do well but Rishabh Pant’s injury will affect the Delhi Capitals,” Ganguly said.
