The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Releases In May 2023
Publisher Nacon has revealed the release date for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. The game will launch for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on May 25, 2023. The Nintendo Switch version will launch later in 2023.
This news comes after the game suffered multiple delays. Initially, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was supposed to launch in 2021. It then got pushed to 2022, and even had a release date of September 1 that year before getting delayed once again.
Nacon also released a trailer to accompany the game’s new release date.
The latest trailer focuses on story elements, offering a look at some of the game’s characters, with some gameplay sprinkled throughout.
As its name suggests, this game follows Gollum on an adventure that takes place between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. It’s an action-adventure game with stealth and platforming mechanics, as shown in the recent trailers.
In 2022, Nacon released a gameplay trailer for Gollum, but the community’s response to it was mostly negative. Much of the criticism was aimed at the game’s graphical fidelity, while others poked fun at the gameplay itself. Following the poor reception to that trailer, Nacon delayed the game from its September 1 release date, explaining that it wanted to “deliver the best possible experience.”
