Chelsea staff member filmed asking Eden Hazard to come back
A Chelsea staff member asked Eden Hazard to return to Stamford Bridge as the Belgian left the ground following Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over the Blues in the Champions League. The 32-year-old is still widely considered to be a hero in west London after seven successful years with the club.
Hazard is widely considered to be one of the best players in Chelsea’s recent history after making 352 appearances for the club between 2012 and 2019. He scored 110 goals and produced 92 assists in that time helping the Blues to the Premier League title twice. He also won the Europa League on two occasions as well as claiming the FA Cup and League Cup once.
However, his move to Real Madrid has not gone as he would have hoped with consistent injury issues plaguing his progress. He has made just 75 appearances, scoring seven, in four years at the Bernabeu with the current campaign particularly difficult. The Belgian has featured in just nine games this season with Carlo Ancelotti reluctant to use him.
There is a good chance that he will look for a transfer over the summer and it appears there are some at Chelsea who would welcome him back in open arms. A Stamford Bridge worker could be heard asking him to come back as he made his way from the ground following Real’s win.
Los Blancos ran out as comfortable winners over the course of the two legs with Cheslea dreadfully poor in front of goal. A double from Rodrygo sealed the win on the night after the Blues spurned a number of good opportunities to get themselves back in the tie.
It remains to be seen what Hazard’s future at the Bernabeu will hold but the player himself appears determined to get back into the first-team picture after years of being sat largely on the sidelines.
“I miss it, I want to play, I want to have fun on the field,” Hazard told Belgian outlet RTBF last month. “I hope deep inside me that I can bring something and that the coach is still counting on me.
“I would like to stay, I’ve always said that. I hope to play and to show that I can still do it. People have doubts, that’s normal, I understand. ‘But for me, I’m still here next year. You never know, but a transfer is not in my plan.”
