Hellblade 2 Developers Are Literally Playing With Their Food

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II developer Ninja Theory is quite literally playing with its food during the game’s development process.

On Twitter, the studio posted a picture of developers using kitchen and food items such as flour, couscous, and polenta in order to create more realistic environmental designs for Hellblade II. The picture shows Icelandic symbols carved into the material and then seemingly photographed or transferred into the game itself.

It looks like Ninja Theory is pulling out all the stops to make Hellblade II as realistic as possible. Over the past few years, it has posted a few updates such as giving us a look into the game’s facial animations, actress Melina Juergens’s chin on a toilet plunger, and how it burned Senua’s clothing for research. Juergens even went through a grueling training regimen to create a more realistic Senua.

The game will also be using Unreal Engine 5. Ninja Theory is working on Project Mara, a short-form horror game, but there is no release date for it as of right now.

Hellblade II was first revealed at the Game Awards 2019 for Xbox Series X|S and PC. It currently doesn’t have a release date or release window.
