Sony PlayStation: Details About Budget of the Exclusive Game by Deviation Games Out
Deviation Games was working on a PlayStation exclusive game since 2021, which is now reportedly cancelled. A new report reveals the reason why Sony decided to shut down the project. This new exclusive IP by Deviation Games for Sony PlayStation reportedly had a budget of over $50 million.
Game cancelled for cost-cutting
This new information (via Twitter user @bogorad222) comes from the LinkedIn profile of Shaun E., former chief operating officer of Deviation Games. The studio has also recently laid off several of its employees. One of those employees has let slip indirectly that the project has been cancelled by Sony. The ex-employee was asked why Sony cancelled the game, and they replied that it was probably for cost-cutting. Clearly, the studio’s lay-offs also tied in with the game’s cancellation.

Deviation Games’ co-founders, chief creative officer Jason Blundell, had also left the studio in September 2022. It’s presumed that the development of the game wasn’t going how Sony had hoped, and hence it decided to cancel development altogether.
He confirmed it by accident
Question: Do you know why Sony canceled your project?
Answer:I’m really not sure, other than probably cost cutting.— Timur222 (@bogorad222) May 13, 2023
Deviation Games was started by Call of Duty veterans Dave Anthony and Jason Blundell. The duo signed a deal with Sony in 2021 to develop a new IP for them. At the time of the announcement, Deviation Studios had over 100 employees and said it has an “an incredible partner” in Sony backing the studio up.
