Twitter faces lawsuit from former PR firm for unpaid bills. Here’s what happened
Twitter is facing another legal battle as its former public relations firm takes legal action against the social media platform for non-payment of invoices.
As per a Reuters article, Twitter is currently facing a lawsuit from its former PR firm, Joele Frank. The firm claims that Twitter has failed to pay its bills since Elon Musk assumed control of the company. The outstanding amount, totaling USD 830,498, encompasses six unpaid invoices and expenses related to a subpoena incurred during Twitter’s legal action to compel Musk to fulfill the buyout agreement he attempted to retract.
According to the report, the PR firm stated that Twitter ended their contract on November 16 but has not yet settled its outstanding invoices. Furthermore, Twitter has provided minimal communication regarding the payment, with only an automated assurance stating that the payment processing will commence immediately.
Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter in October 2022 generated significant attention as the highly-publicized deal amounted to USD 44 billion. The purchase remained a popular topic for several months. Presently, Twitter no longer maintains a communications department, and any emails sent to its press email address receive a response in the form of a ‘poop emoji.’
Meanwhile, Elon Musk took to Twitter to acknowledge the excessive storage usage of the microblogging bird app, expressing his apologies to users. In a screenshot shared, he highlighted that the app occupied approximately 9.52 GB of storage, while Whatsapp and Discord consumed 1.3 GB and 2 GB respectively. Notably, PornHub claimed 11 GB of storage. Musk tweeted, “Apologies for the app’s space consumption.”
Since its publication, the post has garnered more than 33.2 million views and received 367k likes. Musk’s post has received mixed reactions from twitterati. A user commented, “A second user said, “Do something about it.”
Interestingly, a user pointed out that Musk is trying to highlight that Twitter takes less space than PornHub. He commented, “Not sure why people are commenting all kind of stuff while @elonmusk is showing it to highlight that it is still taking less space than pornhub. Mr Musk, I tally love your sense of humor. It is so sharp.
