There have been rumours going around the internet about a possible Legend of Zelda film. Those rumours have now been debunked by Super Mario Bros. Movie producer Chris Meledandri. He said that he does not even understand where these rumours even came from. These rumours were claiming that Illumination, Universal, and Nintendo were closing on a deal for this movie.

Legend of Zelda Movie Rumours

After the success of Super Mari Bros. Movie, rumours about the next movie were quick to surface and they were about a Zelda movie. Super Mario Bros. Movie producer Chris Meledandri told The Wrap that there is no substance in these rumours. He said, “I don’t know where that came from.

A recent report claimed that it was in fact going to be none other than Zelda, with the rumour suggesting that Nintendo, Universal, and Illumination were very close to forming a deal. Except that doesn’t seem to be the case, as according to an interview with The Wrap, Super Mario Bros. Movie producer Chris Meledandri says he doesn’t even know where the rumour came from. I mean I can understand how people would surmise all sorts of things because obviously, we’ve had a great experience working together. My relationship with Nintendo now includes being on their board of directors, so I understand how people can surmise these things.”

He added, “But in terms of the specifics, that was just something that I’ve been hearing lots of reports. This is just about what’s next between Nintendo and Illumination.” These statements from Meledandri does indicate how the rumours did not stem out of anything concrete. Speaking of concrete, Mario voice actor Chris Pratt did indicate a sequel is confirmed but due to writer’s strike, development is currently on hold.
