OPPO Enco Air3 Pro First Impressions: Immersive Sound and Smart Features in a Stylish Package | 91mobiles.com
OPPO has been making waves in the audio category for the past few years with its Enco lineup of IOT products. From neckband earphones (Enco M31) to the flagship Enco X2 the devices have made their mark in the wearables category. This year, OPPO has gone one step ahead and brought some unheard features to this price segment with the all-new Enco Air3 Pro. The OPPO Enco Air3 Pro is priced at Rs 4,999 and will be available to purchase from Flipkart, Amazon, and the OPPO Stores starting July 11th.
We managed to get our hands on these TWS ahead of the launch and here are our first impressions.
Design and Build Quality – Top notch
Much like its predecessor, the Enco Air3 Pro comes with impressive build quality. The case is around 4 percent smaller, and the earbuds themselves are around 6 percent smaller, compared with last year’s TWS. In our time with these wireless earphones, we found it extremely convenient to carry around the case due to its compact size. It manages to slip into pockets extremely easily as well. The case offers a distinctly unique design and comes in two colours: Green and White.
In our initial usage, we noticed that the case has a good finish and resists fingerprints well enough. Thanks to the IP55 rating on the case, WS will be protected against occasional exposure to water and sand as well. The case comes with a USB Type-C port for charging and comes with multicoloured LED at the front for indications of the charging status of the earbuds and for the case.
Notably, these earbuds come with the world’s first bamboo-fibre diaphragm, which is much different compared to the titanium-plated diaphragm used in regular earbuds. Bamboo-fibre diaphragms offer three major advantages over the common titanium-plated diaphragm. Firstly, its lightweight design, weighing only 40 percent of a titanium-plated diaphragm, enables quicker response to sound changes. Additionally, its bamboo fibre construction offers stronger rigidity, with 44 percent less deformation compared to titanium plating. The internal damping of the Enco Air3 Pro is also notable, providing 63% more elasticity than titanium plating, resulting in faster diaphragm recovery speed. These advancements contribute to a refined audio experience that is hard to find in the segment.
Connectivity and Features – Quality of life improvements
Let’s now talk about the substantial upgrades that the OPPO Enco Air3 Pro brings along. These earbuds have Bluetooth 5.3 support and LDAC codec support, something that most earbuds don’t offer in this price range. In case you are unaware, LDAC is a Bluetooth audio codec developed by Sony that allows for high-quality wireless audio transmission. It can transmit up to 990 kbps of audio data, which is three times more than the standard SBC codec. This means that LDAC can provide a more detailed and immersive listening experience than other Bluetooth codecs. In our time with these truly wireless earphones, we have found that there is definitely an improvement in the overall audio quality.
Another great addition is the ability to connect two devices simultaneously. If you are someone who wants to connect OPPO Enco Air3 Pro to both your laptop and your phone at the same time and not go through the hassle of disconnecting from one device before connecting with the other, this quality-of-life feature is made for you. As this feature is currently available on select earphones, OPPO Enco Air3 Pro definitely stands out in the price segment.
OPPO has also brought flagship-grade software tuning support to the Enco Air3 Pro. The earbuds now support Golden Sound 2.0, which effectively tunes the sound signature to your liking, and I must say after using the Golden Sound, the audio quality changes drastically. We would highly recommend setting this up before using the earbuds.
Apart from that, there is also OPPO Alive Audio, which is basically a spatial audio experience that works only with OPPO smartphones as of now and gives a surround sound sensation. There is also OPPO Enco Master Tuning, which is basically preset for three different EQ settings (Original Sound, Bass Boost, and Natural Inspiration) which can be changed via the HeyMelody app. In our testing, we found the spatial sound signature to be especially impressive and notably immersive.
Sound Quality with Adaptive ANC and Battery Life
Let’s move on to one of the most crucial aspects of any audio product – sound quality. These earbuds now support adaptive ANC up to 49dB. Adaptive ANC works by using a combination of microphones and sensors to monitor the surrounding environment. The microphones measure the level of ambient noise, while the sensors measure the tightness of the fit of the headphones. This information is then used to adjust the level of noise cancellation accordingly.
For example, if you are in a noisy environment, such as an aeroplane or a train, the adaptive ANC will automatically increase the level of noise cancellation. This will help to block out the ambient noise and allow you to enjoy your music or audio content in peace, and if you are in a quieter environment, such as a library or a coffee shop, the adaptive ANC will automatically decrease the level of noise cancellation. In our limited testing, the adaptive ANC works impressively and effectively blocks out noises despite changes in the environment.
As far as battery life is concerned, OPPO Enco Air3 Pro comes with a claimed battery life of 7 hours, and up to 30 hours with the charging case. This battery estimate is with AAC audio, audio at 50 percent volume, and default settings. In our time with the earphones till now, the battery life has lived up to these claims and we managed to last easily around two days without plugging back the case.
Initial thoughts on Enco Buds Air3 Pro
The OPPO Enco Air3 Pro looks promising for the feature set at its price point. Our first impressions of these TWS are positive, and we can’t wait to check them out further. The standout feature for us in our testing was the ability to connect to two devices simultaneously and the overall sound quality offered by these earphones was undeniably brilliant. The world’s first bamboo-fibre diaphragm is definitely unique and gives a shoutout to OPPO’s innovative streak of using nature-inspired material in the construction of a tech product. OPPO Enco Air3 Pro looks are a promising choice for all those looking for a unique immersive TWS in the price segment. For a price of Rs 4,999, the OPPO Enco Air3 Pro is a must-buy.
