Barbie is hyped as one of the most highly anticipated films of 2023, and a major factor contributing to this excitement is its stellar cast. The film boasts an impressive lineup of industry heavyweights, including Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell, Emma Mackey, Simu Liu, Michael Cera, Kate McKinnon, America Ferrera, and many more. Interestingly, it has been revealed that director Greta Gerwig has additional cameos in store.
In a conversation with CinemaBlend (via ScreenRant), Gerwig revealed that there were plans to include Timothée Chalamet, the actor set to portray Willy Wonka in an upcoming film, as well as Saoirse Ronan, known for her role in Lady Bird, in Barbie. Gerwig, who directed both Chalamet and Ronan in Lady Bird, explained that they were intended to make “specialty” cameos in the film. However, due to prior commitments, they were unable to participate in the project.
Gerwig was disappointment at the situation, feeling as though she were missing out on something involving her “children.” “I mean, I’m not their mom,” she said. “But I sort of feel like their mom.” While fans may be a bummed out about the Lady Bird team not reuniting in Barbie, they can still anticipate other exciting cameos in the film, including John Cena, Dua Lipa, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and many others.
Barbie Shakes and Barges introduced at Burger King Brazil
The marketing efforts for the film have been quite extensive, featuring interesting collaborations such as the Malibu Dreamhouse with AirBnB, a Barbie-themed Xbox, and more. The latest promotion involves a collaboration with Burger King in Brazil, offering Barbie-themed burgers and shakes. Fans can indulge in the Combo BK Barbie, which includes a burger with pink sauce, a pink shake with a donut, fries in Barbie packaging, and a soft drink, all presented in a special Barbie x Burger King collaboration box.
