Kickstarter Celebrates First Comic-Con Booth With Exclusive Enamel Pins
While much of the news around San Diego Comic-Con involves which companies won’t be attending the show this year, others will be there for the very first time. SDCC 2023 marks the first time Kickstarter will have a booth at the show, and to celebrate, they’re releasing a pair of exclusive enamel pins.
The pins are designed by artists Amanda Conner (Harley Quinn) and Ryan Benjamin (Batman Beyond). You can see both pin designs below:
“Kickstarter is the perfect platform for PaperFilms, because it allows us to do our thing the way we wanna do it, and we also get to interact directly with our fans,” Conner tells IGN. “It’s also a dynamic platform full of art, music, tech, stuff that makes your life easier, so as I was creating this enamel pin design for Comic-Con attendees, I wanted to represent one of the things that make Kickstarter such a vibrant community. This pin represents art, but I’m guessing you probably figured that one out already!”
“To reach out and give a hand up is one of the most honorable things someone can do,” Benjamin says. “I can only hope to inspire the next generation of artists and creators to take a chance and build something. I wanted the Comic-Con audience to be able to pin the word ‘Pro’ on themselves and I wanted to show a hint of comic book linework encased in an iconic comic book word balloon.”
As mentioned, Kickstarter is hosting its first-ever Comic-Con booth this year to promote its various crowdfunded comics projects and give out pins to attendees. In addition, Kickstarter will also be holding a panel at Comic-Con called “Lessons From Successful Kickstarter Comics Creators.” The lineup of panelists includes both Conner and Benjamin, as well as Jimmy Palmiotti, Brian Pulido, Deb Aoki, Kat Calamia and Kickstarter’s Oriana Leckert. The panel will be held in Room 32AB on Friday, June 21 from 1pm to 2pm.
