England vs Australia, 4th Ashes Test: Happy to bat anywhere to play Test cricket, says Cameron Green – Times of India

Australia all-rounder Cameron Green missed the third Ashes Test because of injury and is back fit now, ready to bat even in the top order if that’s what is required to get back in contention for a place in the eleven for the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford.
Mitchell Marsh, who replaced Green in the third Test, hit a century and is almsot certain to retain his place, which now poses even a bigger challenge to Green who had suffered a minor hamstring strain.
In that scenario, Green’s chance of a comeback lies in opening the batting in place of out-of-form David Warner.Australia, who lead the five-match series 2-1, lost the third Test by three wickets.
“It might be a bit tougher as an allrounder when you have to bowl your 15 to 20 (overs) a game and then also bat No. 4,” said Green. “I think being an allrounder…probably Shane Watson is the only (opener) who comes to mind doing that. I’m not too sure how much he bowled.
“But I think anyone would be happy to bat anywhere to play Test cricket. You always put your hand up for selection but have to wait and see what selectors think.”

Green has never batted in the top three in his first-class career so far, but there’s hope for him when one thinks of allrounder Watson, who opened for Australia 29 times in the 59 Tests he played.
There was a nine-day gap between the third and the fourth Test, which begins in Manchester on July 19.
“It was nice to have a bit of a break,” he said. “The body is all good.”
