Death Stranding FIlm: Producer Allan Ungar Promises ‘Exciting News’ Soon

With the ongoing Writers’ Strike and SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) Strike in Hollywood, the future of multiple upcoming shows and films continue to be in turmoil. However, the Death Stranding film is confirmed to be in development, as its producer recently teased that awaiting fans can soon expect some “exciting news.”

In a conversation with Screen Rant, producer Allan Ungar was questioned about the Death Stranding film. He explained that the film continues to be an important undertaking by Hideo Kojima, the all-rounder creator of the 2019 game that the film is based on. Ungar stated:

“This is an incredibly, incredibly important undertaking for [Kojima]. This is his baby, this is the first time that he went out on his own as an independent studio, and made a game, and that game became critically acclaimed, it became very prolific.”

Ungar further added that there’s some new information coming up soon, though he is currently unable to reveal much in light of the ongoing strikes and protests in Hollywood:

“Due to the strike, and due to sort of everything that’s happening in our industry right now, I can’t say as much as I’d like to, other than there’s going to be some very exciting news coming up soon, and we’re incredibly excited about the direction that we’re taking it in.”

According to Ungar, Kojima continues to focus on the game, and is deeply involved in the creative process “every step of the way,” as he himself has informed before. As for the upcoming film, Ungar believes that it’s going to be an “incredible surprise” for not only games fans but also film lovers as well.

Recently, Kojima shared a post on Twitter featuring a motion capture stage with an LED wall displaying a background reminiscent of Death Stranding. However, it remains unclear whether the pictures were taken on the sets of the upcoming game, Death Stranding 2, or for the film currently in development.
