OnePlus has seemingly confirmed the name of its first foldable phone. The company tweeted, “We OPEN when others FOLD.” The tweet came around the time Samsung launched its latest foldable phones in South Korea on Wednesday. Here, OnePlus emphasises ‘OPEN’, which has been speculated to be the foldable’s name for some time.
OnePlus Open rumoured launch timeline
OnePlus is yet to make any official announcement but it is speculated that the foldable will launch next month. That’s pretty close considering there’s no official teaser from OnePlus yet. Joining the foldable could be two more OnePlus phones including the Nord CE 3 and Ace 2 Pro.
OnePlus Open specifications (Expected)
- Display: OnePlus Open is expected to feature a large 7.8-inch foldable AMOLED display with a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. There will be a smaller 6.3-inch AMOLED cover display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
- Processor: The foldable could be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset paired with Adreno GPU.
- RAM and storage: OnePlus Open is expected to offer up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
- Cameras: The OnePlus Open is rumoured to feature at least five cameras. At the back, it could be a combination of a 48MP primary, a 48MP ultra-wide angle lens, and a 64MP telephoto sensor. The foldable is expected to house a 32MP front camera on the cover screen and a 20MP sensor on the inside.
- Battery: It could pack a 4,800mAh battery with support for 100W fast charging.
- Software: On the software front, the OnePlus Open will most likely run OxygenOS 13.1 with Android 13 OS out-of-the-box.
