Tottenham ‘open talks with agent’ over signing Harry Kane replacement
Reports in Germany claim Tottenham have opened talks with the representatives of Eintracht Franfkurt striker Randal Kolo Muani as they brace themselves for the potential departure of Harry Kane. The England captain is still facing an uncertain future in north London just over two weeks out from Spurs’ Premier League opener at Brentford and Ange Postecoglou is keen to have clarity on his squad as soon as possible.
Bayern have so far seen two bids rejected but they’re ready to submit a third bid worth up to £86million for the 30-year-old.
Tottenham know they will have to consider the offer given Kane is currently due to depart as a free agent in the summer of 2024.
And if Spurs are to reluctantly sanction his exit before the September 1 transfer deadline, they know they will need to at least attempt to replace his goal output which is by no means an easy feat.
According to BILD’s Christian Falk, contacts have now started with the representatives of Frankfurt frontman Kolo Muani.
The Frenchman is an all-rounder having racked up 23 goals and 17 assists in his debut season in Germany following his 2022 switch from Nantes.
He also caught the eye at the World Cup with France where he netted in Les Bleus 2-0 semi-final victory over Morocco.
Kolo Muani also came close to etching France’s name on the trophy when he burst through on goal in the last minutes of the match to force a stunning save from Emiliano Martinez.
His eye-catching displays have unfortunately bolstered the player’s price tag with Frankfurt reportedly set to demand at least £70m for their talisman this summer.
Frankfurt have already lost Daichi Kamada and Evan Ndicka on free transfers this summer, therefore they’re not prepared to let Kolo Muani leave without a fight.
Tottenham do also have Richarlison, who can operate as a centre-forward if Kane was to depart.
Although Spurs initially seemed confident of keeping their all-time record goal-scorer, it now appears a transfer could materialise much to the stress of Postecoglou and the club’s supporters.
Kane is believed to be keen on joining Bayern although out of respect for Spurs, he will not agitate for a transfer.
Paris Saint-Germain have also shown strong interest but the Parisians have their work cut out trying to entice Kane into the move.
At the moment, Bayern are his strong preference after Thomas Tuchel held a face-to-face meeting with the England skipper to share his vision and plans for Kane in Bavaria.
United and Bayern have also shown interest in Kolo Muani this summer but Frankfurt’s valuation is considered to be steep.
The France international is tied down to a long-term contract in Germany meaning Frankfurt are in a strong position to keep their electric attacker despite numerous enquiries.
