iQOO 8 launch date confirmed as August 17th | 91mobiles.com
In the past few weeks, we have learned about some of the key iQOO 8 specifications, including its screen type and fast charging capabilities. Another report speculated that iQOO would launch the smartphone on August 4th. However, that isn’t the case and the official iQOO 8 launch date is officially set for August 17th. The information comes from iQOO’s official Weibo handle, so we know it’s for real. It will be unveiled at 19:30pm local time, which translates to around 5:30pm IST. Given that it is a China-only launch, we might not be able to stream it on YouTube and the likes, but we can still watch it via Weibo, BiliBili, and other Chinese social media apps.
iQOO 8 specifications (expected)
Based on what we know so far, the iQOO 8 is expected to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ chipset, making it one of the first commercial smartphones to run the hardware. Although its exact battery capacity is unknown, it is expected to support fast charging at 160W. One can fully charge the phone’s battery in just twelve minutes. Given its massive charging wattage, we’re probably looking at a dual-cell battery.
Moving on to the screen, the iQOO 8 is rumoured to feature a QHD+ AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Its software will also dynamically adjust the refresh rate based on the content being displayed. This is a high-end feature found exclusively on a handful of phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. Other iQOO 8 specs could include up to 12GB of physical RAM with 4GB of virtual memory and up to 256GB of storage. We don’t know much about the phone’s cameras just yet, unfortunately.
