A new software update troubles Galaxy Watch 4 users again – Times of India
Earlier this week, Samsung released a software update for its last generation of the smartwatch – the Galaxy Watch 4 – and despite fixing the bugs, it caused more problems for the users. Now, the new update, which should have fixed the issue, proves to be a new headache for them.
The firmware update, R8xxXXU1GVI3, released earlier this week, rendered the Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic useless, not allowing them to turn on again once turned off after running out of battery.
Taking quick action, Samsung released a new update to the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic, with a firmware number ending in GVK4. The release notes of the latest update say that the system’s stability and reliability have been improved. However, it does not seem so, as some users complain about their watches being bricked even after the new update.
The latest update also bumps up the security patch level to November 2022, and a “power operation-related stabilization code” has been applied.
9to5Google notes that a handful of threads on Reddit posted about the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classing becoming useless after the latest update, asking what they should do now. So far, there has been no comment issue from Samsung on the matter, but a few users having out-of-warranty watches are saying that the company is asking them to get a new watch.
Meanwhile, for some, the update brings a sigh of relief, as the update fixed the issue of their watch not turning on again. The users believe that the issue does not lie in the software update but in the hardware. The models built last year around August are the ones being more affected than the ones being manufactured recently. We are yet to hear from Samsung on what it plans to do after this recent havoc.
