Aaron Rodgers injury update: Packers QB in for ‘another painful week’ after aggravating toe injury

Green Bay lost its Week 11 contest in painful fashion as Minnesota walked it off with a field goal as time expired. But the loss, and the way it happened — despite Aaron Rodgers having four touchdowns and 385 yards — won’t be the only thing that stings and lingers.

It seems as though Rodgers, too, will be left with lasting memories from the game as he sustained a serious toe injury in the first half of the game after getting stepped on.

Rodgers described the injury as “worse” than turf toe, and was even added to the team’s injury report upon being activated off the COVID list, though he received no game designation. As a result, Rodgers was minimally involved in this week’s practices.

Despite the apparent pain Rodgers was in, he left the game just once — on a kneel down play to end the first half, which was executed by backup Jordan Love.

“It’s very, very painful. I got stepped on in the first half, and that kind of activated all the symptoms that I was having,” Rodgers said after the game. “It’s going to be another painful week next week, and then hopefully I can get healed up during the bye.”

All told, the injured Rodgers completed 23 of 33 passes for a season-high 385 yards and four touchdowns and carried it twice for 21 yards. The four touchdowns came on Green Bay’s final four full possessions.

The loss dropped the Packers to 8-3, but still squarely atop the NFC North as they look to rebound at home against the Rams next week before heading into their bye week.
