Activision Blizzard could release a Call of Duty title next year: Report | Digit

Call of Duty, the popular first-person shooter franchise, could launch its “next full premium release in the blockbuster annual series” next year, i.e., in 2023. It was reported earlier this year that Activision Blizzard would delay its annual entry for 2023. Nevertheless, it seems good news for the Call of Duty franchise fans, as they will most likely get a new title next year.

As per a report by The Verge citing Activision Blizzard’s third-quarter earnings published on November 7, 2022, Microsoft’s acquisition of the company is expected to close by June 30, 2023. The studio plans to release Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 on November 16 and Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile in the third quarter, with a full release scheduled for 2023.

Adding to this, the official company document reads, “Activision is looking forward to building on its current momentum in 2023, with plans for next year including the most robust Call of Duty live operations to date and next full premium release in the blockbuster annual series, and even more engaging free-to-play experiences across platforms.”

However, Bloomberg reported earlier that due to the poor response to Call of Duty: Vanguard, released in 2021, the company won’t launch another title in 2023. Bloomberg also reported that the studio was considering changing its annual release schedule. It is important to highlight that Activision Blizzard still needs to confirm that they will release a new title next year.
