Call of Duty will be celebrating its 20 year anniversary this year in October. Naturally we can expect some big releases coming up this year from the franchise which includes the speculated Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Mobile. We’ve now received an update from publishers Activision Blizzard about their progress in developing the game.
Update on Call of Duty’s 2023 title
Activision Blizzard recently spoke about their upcoming annual premium release for 2023, during their latest earnings call. In the blog post elaborating on the proceedings, it is mentioned that Call of Duty’s 20th Anniversary will be celebrated this year in October, with its 90 million monthly players across the globe. They added that “Activision’s teams are hard at work on major new installments in the franchise slated for the fourth quarter. Development of this year’s full annual premium release on PC and console is proceeding well.”
While we await the announcement of 2023’s flagship Call of Duty title, Activision recently confirmed that players will be able to carry over their Modern Warfare 2 weapons, bundles and operators into the game. This led to speculation that 2023’s CoD title might be the sequel to 2022’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.
Update on Warzone Mobile
Activision has also added that the development of Call of Duty: Warzone mobile also “continues to progress through regional testing”. They describe Warzone Mobile as “an ambitious, internally developed mobile game tightly integrated with the PC and console experience”.
With 90 million monthly players, over half of all engagement of the Call of Duty franchise happens on mobile. Naturally fans are eagerly anticipating the release of Call of Duty: Warzone mobile.
