Adama Traore ‘wants to play under Antonio Conte’ in huge Tottenham transfer boost

Adama Traore is desperate to play under Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte, reports suggest. Daniel Levy is keen to bolster his squad in the January transfer window.

Wolves star Traore apparently wants to move to Tottenham and work under Conte, a coach he greatly respects.

The Spain international has been long linked with an exit from the Molineux with several top clubs interested.

Liverpool and Chelsea have been most recently interested in his services but it appears Tottenham are leading the charge to land the winger.

Spurs were desperate in the summer last year with Nuno Espirito Santo in charge but Wolves demanded £50million – a fee that the north London outfit would not meet.

But an offer is set to come this January despite the exit of the Portuguese coach, who managed the former Barcelona ace in the Midlands.

According to 90min, Traore is keen on a move to Tottenham because he wants the chance to be coached by Conte.

The Italian is renowned for getting the best out of his players – including explosive-type forwards with high work-rates.

Lucas Moura is among those to be the most improved at Spurs while Victor Moses saw his career completely reignited by Conte at Chelsea.

According to The Athletic, Conte wants to bring the 25-year-old to London and utilise him much like the former Blues star at Stamford Bridge and play him as a wing-back.

Traore will see his contract expire in 2023 and Wolves have been desperate to tie him down to a new deal.

However, the ex-Middlesbrough star has so far rejected all attempts to renew, which has softened the club’s stance over a potential sale.

Wolves also know they will have to sell players if Bruno Lage wants to sign anyone this month.

The Portuguese coach said: “When you want to do the next step and every time you sell your best players, the next step never happens.

“The main point is to continue with the same players, but if one big transfer appears sometimes you cannot say no.

“You never know if something happens in the last minute, then you have to decide what is best for the club and the player.”
