Adrian Peterson contract details: How much money does new Titans RB make in 2021?

Adrian Peterson can make history this season — again.

Peterson’s Hall of Fame credentials are all but cemented, but he’s going to get another opportunity to notch a record this year as he lines up in the Titans’ backfield this weekend vs. the Rams.

On Nov. 1, Peterson signed a contract with Tennessee, coming in to help mitigate the loss of Derrick Henry for, what could be, the remainder of the 2021 NFL season. Peterson last played in the NFL last season with the Lions.

Peterson has an opportunity to rush into the fourth spot on NFL’s list of all-time leading rusher list this season: He sits just 449 yards behind Barry Sanders entering his return game this weekend, and he’s got as good a chance as any to hit that mark over the coming weeks, as long as he stays healthy.

If he’s still got juice in the box, then the Titans will certainly find a way to squeeze it out. And they’re going to do it a very, very reasonable price, too:

Adrian Peterson contract details

On Nov. 2, the Titans signed Peterson to the practice squad, and they’re doing it on the very, very cheap: Peterson signed for just $140,000, per Spotrac.

That deal comes in at below a pre-season veteran minimum deal would have cost, which is around $1.075 million for Peterson.

Obviously, the Titans didn’t need Peterson before the season, so that’s something of a moot point.

Adrian Peterson career earnings

Peterson is the highest-paid running back in league history. Per OverTheCap, Peterson has made $99,647,353 over 15 years in the NFL. Spotrac has that number slightly different, at $103,047,084.

Peterson last signed a one-year, $1.05 million contract with the Lions in 2020. He played in 16 games, amassing 604 yards rushing.
