After Realme, Oppo is the second brand ‘copy’ Apple’s MagSafe charging – Times of India

It was a matter of time, isn’t it? Realme recently showcased its own version of Apple’s MagSafe charging tech and days later Oppo has followed suit and done the same. According to a report by GSMArena, Oppo demonstrated similar tech at the Smart China Expo 2021.
Oppo’s magnetic charging system is called MagVOOC and it also showcased a few products. The products include a 40W charger, a 20W charger and a power bank.
The company claims that MagVOOC charging stand can charge devices at 40W capacity for supported devices. For older Oppo phones, it can charge at 30W. The charger stand is Qi-enabled and can charge without MagVOOC as well but at 15W capacity.
The second MagSafe like product is the 20W MagVOOC charger, which is less powerful but portable. It also offers support for Qi-enabled charging at up to 10W.
The third product is the MagVOOC power bank with 4500mAh capacity. It support Qi standard and can be used to charge smartwatches and TWS headphones as well. It comes with a USB-C port with 10W support.
Oppo hasn’t announced when these products will actually hit the market. Nor do we know what will be the pricing of these products. Oppo has also not made it clear which devices would support MagVOOC.
Realme, earlier this month, became the first company to bring support for magnetic wireless charging system to Android phones. Realme MagDart works on the lines of Apple’s MagSafe system that works for the latest iPhone 12 series.
Realme has launched a variety of products to demonstrate the MagDart technology. The MagDart lineup includes two types of MagDart chargers, a power bank, a wallet, a beauty light and a case. Realme has also not said anything about the date of release, pricing or even regional availability of any of these products.
