Air India flight makes emergency landing after passenger’s phone explodes: Report

Air Indi flight smartphone explosion

The Air India flight was taking off from Udaipur’s Dabok Airport for Delhi. This is where the smartphone of a passenger exploded, according to a report by India Today. There’s no information though on what phone it was, and from which brand. There were no injuries or casualties reported inside the plane which had a total of 140 passengers. After the pilot made an emergency landing, some of the passengers were lifted out of the plane, according to a report by DNA. Post the incident, the plane was examined, and it could take off within an hour for Delhi.

There’s no official report on this yet and one Twitter user refuted some of the claims made about the incident. According to Twitter user Chandrashekhar Sardesai who claims that his friend was in the same flight, the Air India flight never took off from the runway. The explosion took place when the plane was still in taxi, and it took off only after the matter was cleared. It looks like the incident taking place mid-air could have been falsely reported but the explosion did take place.

Smartphone explosions aren’t a new thing to hear of anymore, which shouldn’t be the case. The cause of these explosions are usually due to faulty batteries or phones overheating. In some cases, the explosion is a small one not causing any fatal injury to the person involved. But there have been reports of cases where the person suffers burns due to the explosion.
