OnlyTech has revealed that Airtel is working on its own AirFiber device that will offer similar functionality as the JioAirFiber. The new information has been acquired due to an Android app getting published early and has revealed key details about the upcoming device from Airtel, including images.
Airtel Xstream AirFiber 5G: What it is expected to offer
According to the report, Airtel Xstream AirFiber 5G will be based on Wi-Fi 6 ax router and it will allow users to use the 5G network as a wireless broadband connection, similar to the concept of JioAirFiber 5G.
Based on the images, the device will have a SIM slot and users will have to pick the right spot, put the SIM card at the bottom of the device and turn it on. The app also appears to have some sort of AR implementation to help users find the right spot for the device.
The report mentions that the device will work on 4G networks as well, in case there’s no 5G coverage. The device’s image also indicates that it will offer a couple of Ethernet ports for wired connections at the back of the device.
The pricing of the device has also been revealed by the app. Airtel is planning to price the device at Rs 6,000 and a 6-month subscription will cost Rs 2,994 (Rs 499 per month). This will offer 100Mbps speed. Now, there’s no information on whether the data will be capped or it will offer unlimited data.
