ALL MID-SOUTH CONFERENCE APPALACHIAN FOOTBALL HONORS ANNOUNCED

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Reinhardt’s (Ga.) Teon Burroughs and Bluefield’s (Va.) Jaquon Ebron lead the 2021 All-Mid-South Conference Appalachian Division teams, conference officials announced on Friday. Pioneer College Caterers is the official sponsor of the 2021 Mid-South Conference football awards. Pioneer College Caterers is an organization committed to providing for the food service needs of Christian colleges and universities.
Gabriel Jacon-Duffy earned both MSC Appalachian Defensive Player and Defenisve Freshman of the Year honors. Jacon-Duffy finished with 13.0 sacks, 21.0 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles in 11 games for the Skyhawks to earn the defensive accolades.
Reinhardt ranks 12th nationally, allowing 15.7 points per game, while creating 31 turnovers (16 interceptions) and giving up only 301.5 yards per outing. The Eagles also have 27 sacks and four defensive touchdowns in 11 contests.
Bluefield’s (Va.) Jaquon Ebron was selected as the MSC Appalachian Offensive Player of the Year, posting 80 receptions for 1,406 yards and 16 touchdowns. He led the nation in receiving yards, ranked second in receiving yards per game and third in touchdowns for the Rams, who won five straight games to end the season.
Kentucky Christian’s Jordan Brown and Point’s (Ga.) Gabriel Jacon-Duffy were named the MSC Appalachian Offensive Freshman of the Year and Appalachian Defensive Freshman of the Year, respectively.
Brown rushed for 932 yards (19th-most in the nation) and nine touchdowns in 10 games for KCU, averaging 5.3 yards per carry to garner offensive freshman of the year honors. Jacon-Duffy finished 13.0 sacks, 21.0 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles in 11 games for the Skyhawks to earn freshman defensive accolades.
The individual awards and all-conference teams are selected by a vote of the Appalachian Division’s coaches. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own players.
Reinhardt head coach James Miller was voted the Ron Finley Appalachian Division Coach of the Year for the fifth consecutive season, leading the Eagles to a 9-2 overall record, 6-0 in the Appalachian Division, and a No. 6 national ranking. Reinhardt’s only losses this season came at NCAA FCS Kennesaw State and at Bethel (Tenn.) by one point.
Mike Ketchum was named the Appalachian Division Assistant Coach of the Year, serving as the offensive coordinator for a Bluefield unit that averaged 38.9 points, threw for 3,819 yards (second-best in the NAIA) and 44 touchdowns (most in the country).
Twenty-eight players earned first-team all-conference honors and 30 were selected second-team all-conference as voted on by the coaches. Ties for all-conference teams were not broken.
