In a statement, a Samsung India spokesperson said: “Samsung has pioneered 5G technology development since 2009 and took the leading role in standardizing 5G technology globally. In India, Samsung has the widest portfolio of 5G devices. We are working closely with our operator partners and are committed to rolling out OTA updates across all our 5G devices by mid-November 2022, enabling Indian consumers to experience 5G seamlessly.”

5G services in India

Indian telecoms – Vi, Jio, and Airtel – recently announced their 5G services in India. The 5G rollout has already begun, and services are now available in a few cities. Despite the availability of 5G-enabled handsets and 5G services in cities, many 5G smartphone users currently aren’t able to use 5G services on their devices. This is because some smartphone manufacturers have not enabled 5G services on their devices, but a software update will soon fix this issue.

For those unaware, Airtel 5G Plus is now available in eight Indian cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur, and Varanasi. It offers up to 30x faster speeds than Airtel 4G. Jio True 5G service, on the other hand, is currently available in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Varanasi. However, Jio, Airtel, and Vi promised to launch 5G services across India by the end of December this year.
