All signs pointing towards PlayStation games getting a price increase

Sony’s recent trend of releasing high-profile PlayStation games on Steam has proven to be a popular development for PC owners. Games like Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection, Horizon Zero Dawn, and God of War have all been released on Steam, and are even playable as handheld games on Steam Deck. Unfortunately, however, Sony has started to raise the price of its Steam games, albeit only in select regions. Needless to say, the concern is that prices will eventually go up in the UK and US.

As spotted by PlayStation Lifestyle, the cost of PlayStation games on Steam have gone up in countries like Argentina, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Japan, and South Korea.

The severity of the price increases vary by region and the age of the game, with older titles like God of War only going up by a small amount.

PlayStation Lifestyle has also put together a chart showing the average price increases based on region.

• Argentina: 4199-5999 Pesos to 8499-9999 Pesos

• Canada: $59.99-69.99 CAD to $64.99-79.99 CAD

• Chile: 32000-39500 CLP to 35000-42000 CLP

• China: 279-379 RMB to 345-414 RMB

• Colombia: 159000-194000 Pesos to 184000-219000 Pesos

• Japan: 4900-6490 Yen to 6490-7590 Yen

• South Korea: 45880-58800 Won to 52800-62800 Won

Based on the numbers, UK customers would likely have to spend £44.99 for games like God of War (which currently costs £39.99), and £59.99 for titles such as The Last of Us: Part 1 (which is currently priced at £49.99).

Sony is yet to make an official announcement regarding potential price increases, so fingers crossed UK customers aren’t affected.

Even so, if you’re on the fence about picking up some PlayStation games on Steam, it might be better to do so sooner rather than later.
