Amazon Alexa speakers will speak louder inside noisy rooms – Times of India

Amazon is adding a new feature to its Alexa-enabled smart devices that ensures you listen to her irrespective of the surrounding noise. The Verge is reporting that Amazon has started rolling out a new feature called Adaptive Volume which when enabled automatically increases the smart speaker’s volume if it detects that you’re in noisy surroundings.
According to the company, Alexa can now detect the surrounding noise coming from TV or people talking or the sound from a mixer grinder and automatically boost the volume to ensure that the user listens to Alexa’s response. The feature is currently rolling out in the US and is expected to roll out to other regions as well. However, Amazon has not confirmed
anything about it right now.
The feature can be turned on by simply asking to turn on the feature. Say, Alexa, Turn on Adaptive Volume’ to enable the feature.
Amazon has not specified whether the feature works another way around or not. What we mean is that Alexa will automatically reduce the volume if there’s less or no noise in the surrounding area.
The Verge tested the feature by keeping Echo Dot beside a computer with a spinning fan. The website has reported that the feature is a bit inconsistent at the moment.
Amazon has recently added actor Amitabh Bachchan’s voice to Amazon Alexa-enabled devices in India. It’s a paid feature and costs Rs 149 for a year. Users can say ‘Introduce me to Amitabh Bachchan’ to initiate the purchase process.
