Amazon Seems to Have Purchased The Tomb Raider Franchise for Around $600 Million, Here is What We Know

The upcoming Tomb Raider game has been the talk of the town. Recently, we have been informed that the development for the title is going “full steam” ahead and will be releasing before Perfect Dark. It has also been revealed that a new TV series for the franchise is also being developed by Amazon.

Now, a new report by FellowshipOfFans suggests that Amazon has completely purchased the Tomb Raider franchise. As we all know, the franchise was previously owned by the Embracer Group. The new report suggests that the IP has been purchased from the Embracer group by Amazon for a sum of $600 million. This makes Tomb Raider Amazon’s second biggest responsibility after The Lord of the Rings series.

At the moment, what we know about the title is that it is being developed by Amazon in partnership with Crystal Dynamics. We also know that the title is being developed on Unreal Engine 5. As for the plot, it will be a single-player, narrative-driven adventure that will feature the iconic character, Lara Croft. The upcoming title has also been dubbed as the “biggest, most expansive Tomb Raider game to date.”
