Amazon will give you an Echo speaker for £8.99 if you know this simple code

Fancy bagging yourself a new Echo Dot for under £9? That’s exactly what Amazon is offering customers who discover a new discount code on its website. The UK retailer has launched a deal that slashes the price of these popular speakers when adding two to your basket and applying the phrase ECHODOT at the checkout.

An Echo Dot usually costs a hefty £54.99 (£109.98 for two) but you can get a pair of these popular smart speakers for just £63.98 meaning the second device is yours for only £8.99. That’s a massive bargain especially as the deal features the latest 5th Gen device.

This new Dot gets bigger sound and more bass despite its compact size not getting any larger. Other features include instant access to the Alexa assistant, full smart home controls and it arrives in three colours (Charcoal, Deep Sea Blue and Glacier White).

Thanks to Alexa you can ask the Dot questions, set timers, listen to playlists and hear the day’s or weather news just by asking.

That offer isn’t the only discount Amazon is running on its devices. The company has also announced that it’s slashing the price of its newly released Fire TV 2 Series with things now starting from under £180.

The Amazon telly features a 32-inch 720p HD screen and is powered by the firm’s Fire OS software which means there’s easy access to a swathe of premium apps and services such as Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video. You can also watch things for free via platforms like Freevee.

Of course, this is an Amazon telly so it includes the Alexa voice assistant which means you can bark orders at the screen and get a useful response.

Alexa allows you to launch apps, find content, pause shows, answer questions and control smart home accessories such as cameras and lights.

Amazon usually charges £249.99 when ordering the 2-Series but that price has now been slashed to just £179.99 – that’s a 28% saving.

If a 32-inch screen sounds a bit too small, then you’ll also find a discount on the 40-inch model which is now £229.99 – saving 23% off the standard price
