Andor Season 2 Arrives August 2024

The second season of Andor will arrive on Disney Plus in August 2024.

Taking to the stage at Star Wars Celebration’s Lucasfilm Studio Showcase panel, executive producer Tony Gilroy was joined by Diego Luna, Andy Serkis, and more of the cast to announce the release window.

“We started shooting in November,” Gilroy said. “We’re about halfway. We’re gonna shoot through August. We’re on exact schedule. [We’ll] finish in August, spend another year on post. I suppose we’ll come out the following August.”

A stream of action packed clips from Season 2 were also shown. This opened with a voice saying “I had a feeling you were coming back soon,” showing Cassian, Dedra, Syril, and Bix reunited. “If we do not stand together, we will be crushed.”

Gilroy also teased what’s to come in Season 2. “You know where we’re going. You saw that Death Star blow up. We make that happen.”

The cast and crew also reminisced about the start of Andor and how the show has grown so quickly. “The last time we came we were a secret,” said Gilroy. “We’d never shown anything to anybody. It was baffling. It’s tremendously exciting to be here, to feel part of the community in a legit way.

“We’re really doing what we’ve been doing for three years. It’s a train that just keeps rolling. We’re moving as quickly as we can to finish it out and make you proud of us.”

We previously learned that Andor’s first season took place over a year and that the second season would focus on the four years leading up to the events of Rogue One. Filming for the second season began last November, but this is our first major update since.

Andor was released last year and met with critical acclaim. In our review of the first season, we noted that “Andor is one of the very best TV shows of the year and as good as Star Wars has been in a long, long time.”
