Android 14 is expected to be showcased during the Google I/O taking place on 10th May 2023. Though a developers preview was made available last month, the update will start rolling out to devices only after its final version is released.
Samsung Galaxy devices have been confirmed to get the One UI 6.0 update that will be based on Android 14 and Android 14 might make it more colorful and vibrant this time. The One UI 6.0 is expected to get a new color palette as Google is upgrading the custom color capabilities of its Material You design language for Android 14.
Recently, Google teased new color capabilities in Material You. A teaser was shared on Twitter that had a short clip offering a sneak peek into the next evolutionary step of the color palette feature in Material You.

Internally, this new color design style in Android 14 is being called ‘Fidelity’. With this name, Google intends the color palette in the next big Android OS version to reflect the user’s wallpaper more accurately, using better and sometimes more vibrant colors and higher contrasts.
These features don’t exist in the Beta Version of Android 14, but 9to5Google has discovered that this new style can partly be seen in Google’s open-source code. However, there is no clarity if the Material You name will be replaced by Fidelity or Google will make it ‘Material You Fidelity’.
Fidelity in Android 14 is very similar to Material You’s color palette and allows users to set UI colors that match their wallpapers. But this new system handles colors differently. Fidelity leans more into color contrasts and gives more vibrant choices. Material You tones down the shades whereas Fidelity adds the chosen color accurately to the elements like the star-shaped button and color picker button in the lower right corner. This implies that Fidelity will give users more control over their color options and these options will get reflected in wallpapers better.
Samsung’s One UI 6.0 will also benefit from an upgraded Fidelity color palette feature. Samsung is expected to roll out One UI 6.0 by late August 2023. If this happens, then Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 will not ship with One UI 6.0 as they are expected to arrive in July. Samsung is first expected to upgrade the Galaxy S23 Series and other tablet models to Android 14 and One UI 6.0 before 2023 ends.
