After rolling out the global voice note player for Apple iPhones, WhatsApp started to test the feature for Android users a couple of weeks ago. Till now, the feature was only available to a limited number of Android users who are enrolled in the beta program. Now with the latest beta update, the company is reportedly expanding the feature to more users. As per a report by WABetaInfo, the voice note feature is available to more users with WhatsApp version 2.22.8.7.
What is global voice note player
For those who do not know, the global voice note player allows you to listen to a voice note even after leaving the conversation or while using another app while WhatsApp is running in the background. This feature helps to save time as you can reply in another chat while listening to voice notes easily. Before the feature, users had to stay on a chat to listen to a voice note.
Apart from this, WhatsApp is adding new emojis from the latest Unicode on the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.8.8 update. The new emojis were also recently added for iOS users.
WhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature that will allow you to keep certain disappearing messages in the chat for a longer duration. As per the report, the feature will allow you to keep certain messages in the chat even after the time limit for the message has expired. Currently, you have to temporarily disable the disappearing messages feature and forward the message to the same chat in order to keep a disappearing message in the chats. The process can be quite tedious and the company seems to be aiming to simplify this with the new feature.
