Animax and Gem Now Available on Prime Video
KC Global Media, the company that owns multiple TV channels in Asia, has announced that its two channels Animax and Gem will be available on Prime Video Channels in India.
Animax is a 24×7 anime channel that broadcasts animated content from Japan. When the channel was owned by Sony, it was launched in India in 2004 and was taken off television in 2020. But now, the channels will also be available to watch on demand on Prime Video.
Gem is a Southeast Asian channel that airs live-action Japanese entertainment. This includes dramas and variety shows from the country. This is the first time Gem will be available in India.

“Fueled by passionate fans and the strong following of Japanese pop culture in India, we are excited to bring the ultimate Japanese entertainment experience in collaboration with one of India’s leading streaming platforms,” said George Chien, the co-founder, president, and CEO of KC Global media. “This partnership with Amazon Prime Video marks another significant milestone for us, as we continue our efforts to provide fans in India with greater accessibility across multiple genres of premium Japanese hit series and anime content, anytime, anywhere.”
Earlier this month, content licensed by KC Global Media was spotted on Prime Video. It was speculated that the company could soon launch Animax and GEM as on-demand channels on the streaming service.
KC Global Media also owns the channel One, which airs Korean entertainment content. During an interview with IGN India, we asked co-founder Andy Kaplan if it’s the right time to launch the channel, given how popular K-dramas are in India. “Given the right timing and the right partners, we are happy to explore this opportunity to bring the best of Korean entertainment to India,” he said.
