Ant-Man 3 Originally Had A Lot More Bill Murray

It turns out Bill Murray originally had a much larger role in Ant-Man 3.

A new behind-the-scenes video from Marvel Japan shed light on Murray’s expanded role, which saw him seemingly team up with Kang and MODOK in a much more obvious way.

According to actress Katy O’Brien, Murray, who played Lord Krylar in the recent Marvel movie, did a “whole space pursuit… and then wound up with Kang and got arrested or something”.

Ultimately, he would have ended up locked up with Jentorra, the character who Cassie Lang (played by Kathryn Newton) broke out of quantum prison. In fact, you can see where this would have taken place in the new clip:

Ant-Man 3 saw Murray take the role of Lord Krylar, a former associate of Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) in the Quantum Realm.

“We never wanted anyone to guess who he was playing,” said writer Jeff Loveness. “The internet’s full of all these rumors and no-one knows who he’s gonna be… We tried to find the deepest cut Marvel character we could and we found this random character from a random Hulk comic book in the Quantum Realm called Lord Krylar and we were like ‘Yeah, let’s go with that’.”

Another deleted scene depicts Lord Krylar alongside Kang and MODOK in an alternate version of a scene with Scott (Paul Rudd) and Cassie before Ant-Man is sent off to retrieve the multiversal core. The new clip shows Krylar, stood atop the same platform, shoving an unknown alien off the cliff, presumably to his death.

“There’s nobody like him,” said Michelle Pfeiffer. “Not only is he one of the funniest people on the planet, but when he goes dark when he goes serious… he has some moments in this where it’s kind of a side of him I personally haven’t seen.”

IGN’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania review gave it 7/10 and said: “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has just enough entertaining moments and a heartfelt family story, plus knockout performances in Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet van Dyne and Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror, to make up for its more underdeveloped aspects.”
